Suzuki Motorcycle Sounds like perfect weather for a trail ride. For sure, spring fever is a powerful force, but mountain bikers eager to tackle the pre-spring woods might want to restrain themselves a bit. In many places, the March warmth has thawed only the top few inches of soil. Dig a bit deeper and you'll find dirt still frozen from all those single-digit days.

For outdoor enthusiasts, hikers or mountain bikers, there are 1440Ha to explore including river frontage and the mighty Mount Sutherland (2268m) to conquer.

Motorcycle Tires Yes, there are places where the onset of the equinox has melted the deepest dirt. But chances are this dirt is still soaked with moisture. There's a word for that stuff: Mud. Take a mountain bike on it and you'll dig a trench.

Biker' Michele Smith, host of American Thunder Jay Barbieri explains everything a new rider needs to know to become a real biker. With hundreds of motorcycle trips under his belt, there is not a mistake Barbieri hasn't made or a situation he hasn't encountered. By sharing the sometimes comical outcomes, he gives the new biker a head start to become more comfortable, credible, and knowledgeable.

Harley Davidson Marty Epstein, owner of the Marty's Reliable Cycle stores in Morristown and Succasunna, thinks mountain bikers should refrain from hitting fragile trails this time of year.

The body of the motorcycle is bright blue, and the gas tank has the American flag painted on it.

Motorcycles "The philosophical thing that we always tell people is if the trails are wet and the trails are muddy, stay off of them and give the trails time to recover from winter," he said. "Otherwise, you kind of end up just ruining the trails."

Yamaha Motorcycles To some mountain bikers, mainly those who like to challenge their skills at terrain mastery, springtime mud is a powerful magnet. It adds a big dose of difficulty and there's just something cool about returning home covered in mud. The joy will be short-lived if trails are subsequently closed to bicycles because of severe damage.

Motorcycle Dealer "People have to use their sense of judgment and responsibility," Epstein said.

Suzuki Motorcycles The International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) agrees. In a section of its Web site titled "Leave No Trace," the association urges bikers to be gentle.

Motorcycle Clothing "Be sensitive to the dirt beneath you," the Web site states. "Recognize different types of soils and trail construction; practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy trails are more vulnerable to damage. When the trailbed is soft, consider other riding options."

Bmw Motorcycles Ron Asteak, owner of Bike King, a bike store in Lebanon Township, said it's "pretty difficult" to convince some riders to stay off trails they've missed since the snow began falling. "People have their favorite places to go and it's hard to suggest they don't," Asteak said. "The only thing I say is the rail-trails are the best right now."

Motorcycle Boots He said conscientious mountain bikers should look for paths -- such as the 17-mile Columbia Trail from High Bridge to Long Valley -- that are covered with crushed stone or other resilient material.

Used Motorcycles Epstein said mountain bikers might be more conscientious if they helped maintain the trails. He helps the Morris County Parks Commission with its trail maintenance programs from March through November.

Motorcycle Training "We all go out there and spend three hours a month killing ourselves with picks," Epstein said. "We help make new trails and maintain existing trails. All the work we do all year we don't want ruined by people going out too early in the season and beating on the trails. ... You have to kind of wait a bit. It is a little frustrating, but we'll get that nice weather."

Motorcycles For Sale This time of year, many people put street tires on their mountain bikes and keep in shape by road riding. Some just buy road bikes. Asteak said road bikes are gaining in popularity, while mountain bikes are waning, partly because "it's just easier to go out of your house and go ride on the road."

Bmw Motorcycle Aside from avoiding trail damage, people should think twice about biking through the mud because of what the grit does to equipment. Asteak said a number of customers always show up at his store this time of year with broken cycles. "They have so much mud on them, they wreck their derailleurs," he said.
